From Fancy Dog Food to World Peace: My Brain's Wild Ride
You ever have one of those days where your brain just goes off on a tangent? Yeah, that was me yesterday. So there I was, in this pet store (don't ask why, long story involving cat and a destroyed cushion), and I see this sign about dog food. "Variety is the Spice of Life!" it says, all cheerful and stuff.
I'm standing there, looking at all these flavors - fish, pork, lamb, beef, salmon... I mean, geez, do dogs really care? My childhood dog would eat anything, including my homework once (no, really, it happened!). But anyway, I'm there, and suddenly my brain does this weird jump.
You know how lately the news has been all about that Israel-Palestine thing? It just hit me - here I am, staring at gourmet dog food, and somewhere out there, actual people are starving. Kids can't even get water. It's like... are we living in the same world? How messed up is that?
I'm no expert on this stuff, trust me. Politics gives me a headache. But it just feels wrong, you know? Like, really wrong.
It got me thinking about all those peace songs. You know, the ones we pretend to hate but secretly love? There's that Avril Lavigne one... what's it called... "Zombie"? No, wait, that's The Cranberries. Avril did a cover. Whatever, you know what I mean. And Michael Jackson's "We Are the World" - cheesy as hell, but kinda hits different now.
Oh, and there's this band from Hong Kong - Beyond. They've got this song... ugh, what's it called? Something about the earth. Da... Da something. It's in Chinese, but it's all about peace and stuff. Makes you think, right?
And movies! There are so many anti-war movies out there. Can't remember any names right now (I suck at remembering movie titles, seriously), but you know the ones. They make war look as awful as it really is.
I read some stuff about how much money and lives the Russia-Ukraine war has cost. And now this Israel-Hamas thing... it's just... I don't even know. The numbers are insane, but even one death is too much, right?
Oh, and get this - apparently China helped with some peace talks in the Middle East recently. I was like, whoa, plot twist! Who'd have thought? Maybe there's hope after all? I dunno.
There's this saying I heard once - something about how we have peace in China not 'cause the world is peaceful, but 'cause someone's out there taking the hit for us. Makes you think, huh? I guess it's the same for a lot of countries that aren't in the middle of a war zone.
Anyway, I'm probably not making much sense now. It's just wild how your mind can go from dog food to world peace in like, what, five minutes? But seriously, next time you're buying your pet some fancy dinner, maybe think about the rest of the world for a sec. Or don't. I'm not your boss.
I dunno, maybe I'm just being a sap. But wouldn't it be cool if one day we were arguing about food flavors for everyone, not just pets? A world where peace isn't just something in John Lennon songs?
Alright, I'm done rambling. If you made it this far, congrats, I guess? You've just experienced the rollercoaster that is my brain. Peace out, or whatever. ✌️
